I came to traditional printmaking by the backdoor. The first print I ever made was a silver gelatin photographic print. I worked in photography for 6 or 7 years. Then while doing mixed media work, I was introduced to encaustic printmaking. In this process an encaustic stick (solid beeswax mixed with pure pigment) is melted on a hot plate to obtain an image. These prints were used in both my mixed media work and as standalone prints. In 2016 I had the great good fortune to attend a workshop at Josephine Press in California. This experience broadened my knowledge base and increased my appreciation for print making. On moving to Bloomington, I was again fortunate in finding a great work space at Obsolete Press. Most of what you see here are from my years in Bloomington still happily working at Obsolete Press.
